Pat Metheny: Speaking of Now Live

Live Concert Video, 2003 (9.0*)

Pat Metheny is not only the greatest living guitarist but may well be the best in history, and I've seen Andres Segovia live! Not all these songs will please everyone, but the ones that shine (to you) are among the best live music you will ever see. Personally, I think Lyle Mays has the best soft touch and lyricism on the Steinway grand of any living pianist, so you're getting at least TWO of the world's best musicians in one group - this is music history, folks! Standout cuts for me were A Place in the World, Are You Going With Me? (on the incredible 42-string guitar built for Pat by a harpist), and the closing duet with Lyle and Pat (Map of the World). This is a MUST for musicians and jazz fans alike, and anyone who wants to see the BEST living player on his instrument.

About This Blog

This is our new template: ProBlogger.

These are the individual film reviews of what I'm considering the best 1000 dvds available, whether they are films, miniseries, or live concerts. Rather than rush out all 1000 at once, I'm doing them over time to allow inclusion of new releases - in fact, 2008 has the most of any year so far, 30 titles in all; that was a very good year for films, one of the best ever.
